This week, Johnson wrote a letter to Board members stating that at the end of her contract on April 30 next year, she will not be returning after less than four years on the job.
Johnson has been at the helm of the district since December 2016, when she was named the interim superintendent. She was named the permanent superintendent in March 2017. She had been previously been offered a contract extension that would put it in line with the end of the school year, but she never signed it.
“My contract is slated to conclude on April 30, 2020,” Johnson wrote in a brief letter to the Board of Education. “This letter is to advise the Bridgeport Board of Education that I will not seek/accept a renewal beyond April 30, 2020.”
With Johnson’s announcement, the Board of Education will launch another search for a permanent superintendent. Check Daily Voice for updates.
